Christmas Outreach to the Community

October 11, 2023 | Christy Tharp

If you’ve been to Costco you know it’s not too early to start thinking about Christmas! The ZPC Community Assistance Ministry (CAM) has a long history of helping local families in need during the Christmas season. This year we hope to provide a laundry basket with some basic household items to each family along with Meijer or Walmart gift cards so that parents can shop for gifts for their children. The Zionsville Food Pantry will once again partner with us to provide groceries to these families, too.

What is CAM?

CAM is the Community Assistance Ministry of ZPC. This group is made up of roughly 10 ZPCers who take calls throughout the year and assist individuals in Boone and Hamilton Counties who are struggling to make ends meet for various reasons. We talk with these individuals to get the details to determine if we can assist them. Even when we cannot assist, we work hard to find other avenues or agencies for them that might be able to help. We often pray with them and we also forward their prayer requests to the ZPC Intercessory Prayer Team. We share with them about the Zionsville Food Pantry and our church services, inviting them to both. It is such a blessing when we can truly help someone in need and know that we have made a difference in their life by showing them the love of Jesus.

So what does all of this mean to you?

Well first, we want to invite you to participate in our Christmas Outreach this year by providing a basket, gift card(s), or monetary donation to help us help these families.  You can find more information here.

We would also like to invite you to join us on this ministry team. We currently have a few openings and John Hicks, Christy Baugh, or I (Christy Tharp) would be happy to talk with you about this ministry if it is something that interests you. It’s a great way to get involved with a small team of fellow ZPCers and be a part of blessing others in the name of Jesus.
