So when you give to the needy, do not announce it with trumpets, as the hypocrites do in the synagogues and on the streets, to be honored by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full.
Matthew 6:2
Whenever you do something kind it is in human nature to want to tell people about it. We are always seeking the approval of others in everything we do. However, it is important to step back and think about whether you are doing things for the right reasons. We should not do things seeking the approval of others but rather the approval of God.
So, the next time you do something to help someone, pause for a moment to think and reflect. Think about the reasons you are doing it. Are they the right reasons? Did you tell other people about it? Remember that you do not need the approval of others to show kindness to someone. Someone’s approval may seem more tangible and more real than the approval of God. However, even though you may want gratification from the approval of others, it is important to remember that is not the reason to do things for others. We should do these things because it is God’s will that we help those in need.

Think of a way you can help someone else or make someone’s day. Do this thing and don’t tell anyone else about it.
