Today's Scripture: Psalm 118:24

This is the day that The Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Ps.118:24

Our day begins in total darkness, one second after the clock strikes midnight; however, we usually think of the day beginning at sunrise. When l think of day, l relate it to “daylight.” When the first rays of the sun pierce the dark eastern horizon, the day has arrived. Most people are still sleeping and miss this magical moment. The universal clock did not miss a beat, as the Creator declared it to be, so it is.

In the beginning there was universal darkness and the face of the earth was a soup of rock, water, and the other elements that form our planet today. Genesis tells us “The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep."  When God said, “Let there be light;” light appeared. The creation of light even before the sun and moon were spoken into place, makes the statement that without light, nothing else could happen. Light is one of God's attributes and we read in The Holy Bible that “in him there is no darkness at all.”

On the fourth day God created the light sources we now have, sun for the day and moon for the night. Thus the solar and lunar (galactic) clock was brought into being. What a magnificent, marvelous, and massive timepiece it is. The only one of its kind ever discovered in an ever expanding universe.

Going back to the first reference in Psalms about the day, The Lord has made. We can find numerous days beside the 24 hour day that first comes to mind. A day of a particular light or revelation, called a dispensation, is a period of time in which God gives spiritual light on his will and expected accountability from us mortals.

The Lord Jesus said, “l am the light of the world. He who follows me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” As the creation of light made life on earth possible, even so Jesus coming in person to bring the divine light, was the dawning of a new day. From that historical time forward anyone who would come to God on his terms, qualifies to receive forgiveness and eternal light and life. The apostle John testified, “That was the true Light which gives light to every man coming into the world.” John 1: 9

When l sing the chorus, “This is the day that The Lord has made,” l think about the big picture. The Light has come to illuminate every living soul. We who have received this wonderful light are commissioned to be light bearers to the those who do not know that the day of grace has dawned. “The people who sat in darkness have seen a great light, And upon those who sat in the region and shadow of death light has dawned.”  Math 4:16

ACTIVITY:

You may question what significant difference one little candle can make in a world of darkness. Perhaps you feel like only one drop of rain when the parched ground needs a deluge to satisfy its thirst. When all the tiny members of the Body of Christ collectively contribute their light, something phenomenal happens. We become the light of the world! “You are the light of the world.” Matt 5:14. The world without an active church would plunge humanity into the pre-creation chaos, spiritually speaking.

Today we are privileged be a light to enlighten those who are walking in darkness. There are many searching souls who do not know how to prepare for participating in the future day spoken of in Revelation 22:5   “There shall be no night there: they need no lamp or light of the sun, for The Lord God gives them light.” Before you start any activities ask the Holy Spirit to give you opportunities today. To shine on someone who is either lost or never knew there is a way into The perpetual LIGHT.

PRAYER:

Almighty Creator and Lord of the universe,
l come to worship you. I realize that you see right through me, and know my thoughts and intentions long before they even enter my mind. Dear Lord, shine your light on me so that l may reflect it to those around me and the world at large. May the light of your countenance through me give me many opportunities to share your wonderful love and message of hope. Your Kingdom come within me and your will be done in the Earth where l am as it is in heaven.
Amen

This is the DAY that The Lord has made, rejoice and be motivated to participate in this new day. Make the most of it because it is never coming back!
