Connection Ministries

> Staff Liaison: Terri Shrader [317.873.6503]

We hope that every person who comes through our doors or visits this website has a positive experience and will continue to view ZPC as a place to connect with God and develop friendships. For guests that can mean a friendly face or a warm cup of coffee. For those more familiar with ZPC that means finding a way to "plug in" to what we do here. See how you can help others connect with ZPC.

Ambassadors

Pat Sheehan [317.873.4325]

Ambassadors mentor those new to ZPC. A warm personality and listening ears can be a gift to those who desire greater involvement at ZPC and would like to help in that process. Responsibilities include an intial meeting with a guest/new member to begin the mentoring relationship that will last up to six months, or until the guest/new member is connected. Training is required.

Coffee and Donut Ministry

 [317.873.1378]

The Coffee and Donut Ministry serves up tasty donuts each Sunday morning. In addition to donuts (and bagels), we make sure there is hot coffee and refreshing lemonade, too. Team members serve once or twice a month, before or after one of the three worship services. This team has the unique privilege of creating smiles for many who attend ZPC, plus we strive to create an environment that encourages the development or deepening of friendships. We’d love you to join our team!

Connection Hospitality Team

> Terri Shrader [317.873.6503]

One of the ways you spell hospitality is f-o-o-d! We help create a warm and welcoming atmosphere for Inquirers Classes and other events (as requested) by providing food and beverages for the guests. The responsibilities include anything from preparing/contributing a food item, to helping with the set-up and clean-up of a meal. The time commitment can vary to fit your schedule. We are currently in need of a ministry team leader and additional team members.

Connecting Team

Bud Ruby [317.873.8736]

YOU’RE INVITED! Those are very exciting and empowering words to hear. Well, you are invited…into ministry at ZPC, and the Connecting Team stands behind every invitation. The mission of this team is: "Inviting members of ZPC to share in the JOY and fellowship of SERVING GOD and His church." Whether it’s over the phone, or face-to-face, the Connecting Team is here to help you discover the servant within you. Through "First Serve", this team works with staff and lay leaders to help every ZPCer find that place of service that feeds their passion. When asked, say “yes” to the invitation to serve and then invite others to join you. If you haven't been asked to serve, let us know and we'll help you navigate your next steps.

Inquirers Classes

Terri Shrader [317.873.6503]

Do you want to know ZPC more intimately? Inquirers Classes are scheduled several times a year to provide an in-depth look at ZPC for those curious about the church or thinking of becoming members. Among other things, participants consider: ZPC’s mission, vision, and values, the nature and background of the Presbyterian Church (USA), and the Six Marks of a Disciple. Small group discussions create opportunities for new friendships to form. Classes are typically offered on a Saturday from 9:00 am to 4:30 pm with lunch provided. There is no childcare and pre-registration is required. Check zpc.org or call the church office [317.873.6503] for class dates.

Pie Ministry

Marilyn Anders [317.873.5152]

Do you love to bake? Would you enjoy delivering mouth-watering, delicious, homemade apple pies to our first-time guests? If so, give the Pie Ministry a try. The time commitment is flexible and you will be blessed beyond measure by those who receive the pies. Be part of the team that creates a favorable impression among our first-time guests, sharing the love of Christ in a delicious way!

Parking Team

 [317.733.3471]

The Parking Team serves to offer a warm welcome and a pleasant experience in the ZPC parking lot on Sunday mornings and for special worship services. We move traffic in and out of the parking lot between services as safely and efficiently as possible, always with a smile (and no matter what the weather brings!). In addition, the team helps identify safety issues and ways to improve so that everyone has a positive worship experience. We'd love to have you join our team.

Volunteer Expo

Terri Shrader [317.873.6503]

If you are an event planner at heart, this just might be the ministry for you! The Volunteer Expo is an annual event (held in April) where invitations to serve are extended to every one in our congregation. Take a look at last year's Volunteer Expo brochure (pdf). In order for the event to be successful, a team of energetic, creative, and detail-oriented people is needed. New ideas are always welcome so that, together, we can encourage every one to serve in a way that is honoring to God.

Welcome Center

Jill Robertson [317.873.1829]

The Welcome Center is ZPC's information desk on Saturday nights and Sunday mornings. Volunteers extend a warm welcome, helping guests in a variety of ways, from providing information on ministries/programs to sharing Welcome Packets with first time guests. Team members don't have all the answers, but they do what they can to meet the needs at hand. We'd love to have you join our team.

Welcome Center Schedule: July - Dec 2009

Welcome Shepherds (Greeters)

Harry Milli [317.873.6086]

Loving others through acts of kindness and hospitality is what Jesus did during his earthly ministry. The Welcome Shepherds want to make sure ZPC does this every Saturday night and Sunday morning. There are many ministries in place to help this happen. This team is responsible for inviting and training all the greeters so that, from the parking lot to the cross, each guest knows (thru the actions  and words of others) they have value.

Ushers

Karen Lankton Schmidt [317.733.1643]

Ushers serve as the hosts for the Sanctuary and Chapel, warmly welcoming and assisting guests as they enter the worship space and throughout the hour of worship. Ushers work as a team to provide a worship experience that is comfortable and free from distractions. Tasks include passing out bulletins, seating guests, and collecting the offering. We'd love to have you join our team. Visit the Usher Team Member Page.
